Label TextOften based on the movement of figures, Barbara Lekberg's sculpture explores physical movement within space. The artist received her B.F.A. and M.A. from the University of Iowa and was one of the few women sculptors to begin welding in the 1940s. Working in metal, she has created large public commissions as well as modest-sized works such as Sea Wind. As in many of her sculptures, "Sea Wind" has dynamic movement despite the static position of the allegorical figure.
