Label TextThis is the first of two sculptures Dalton created under the title Susanna. The second version received the Academy's Samuel F. B. Morse Gold Medal in 1952. The Council accepted Dalton's Seated Figure as his diploma presentation on February 2, 1953, but with some reluctance because of its size; the present piece was received in substitution for the larger work.
