Label TextThis bronze group is typical of Eliscu's smaller works which were described in 1977 in the National Sculpture Review as "lean forms in action, wrought with sharp detail to give an impression of wiry strength and nervous energy." The story from classical mythology--here represented in highly unclassical style--is of Jupiter, transformed into a bull, abducting Europa, by carrying her on his back and swimming the sea to Crete.
