1919 - 1977
Ruth Ray studied at the Art Students League. Among her honors were the Julius Hallgarten Prize which she received from the National Academy in 1948, as well as awards from the La Tausca Competition; the National Association of Women Artists; the Connecticut Academy of the Fine Arts, Hartford; Allied Artists of America; and American Artist Magazine. Her work is in public collections such as the Springfield Museum of Fine Art, Massachusetts; the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia, and the Columbus Museum of Art, Georgia.
