Anthony Toney studied at the college of Fine Art, Syracuse University, New York; in Paris at Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and the Ecole Superior des Beaux-Arts; and also at Columbia University. Among his honors are: the Henry Ward Ranger Purchase Fund, NAD; the Childe Hassam Purchase Prize, the American Academy of Arts & Letters; a medal of honor, Audubon Artists; and a purchase prize, Illinois University. His works are in such public collections as: the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Chrysler Art Museum, Norfolk, VA; and the Museum of Syracuse University, NY. Among his teaching positions have been: Hostra College and the New School for Social Research. He is the author of several books.
