for Herman Maril
1908 - 1986
Herman Maril studied at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute; and the Maryland Institute of Fine Art, Baltimore. Among his honors were: the Childe Hassam Purchase Prize, the American Academy of Arts and Letters; several awards, the Baltimore Museum of Art; the Ranger Purchase Award, National Academy of Design; the Corcoran Gallery, Washington, DC; the University of Maryland; the Silvermine Guild, Connecticut. His paintings are in public collections such as: the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Newark Mueum; the Baltimore Mueum of Art; the Wilmington Fine Arts Center, Deleware; the Corcoran Gallery and the National Museum of American Art, Washington, DC. He taught for many years at the University of Maryland and retired as Professor Emeritus.
