Mervin Jules studied at Baltimore City College, Maryland; the Maryland Institute; and at the Art Students League with Thomas Hart Benton. Among his purchase awards are: Society of American Graphic Artists; the Brooklyn Museum; the Library of Congress; the Museum of Modern Art, and the Baltimore Museum of Art, Maryland. His grants include: The Research Foundation of City University of New York; The Alfred Vance Churchill Foundation; and the Asian-African Study Program. His works are in public collections such as: the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Museum of Modern Art; the Brooklyn Museum; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Museum of Fine Art, Boston; the Walker Art Institute, Minneapolis, Minn.; and the Tel-Aviv Museum, Isreal. His teaching positions have included: the Museum of Modern Art; Smith College, Northampton, Mass.; and the University of Wisconcin.
