Burton Philip Silverman studied at Pratt Institute, Columbia University, and the Art Students League. Among his honors are many from the NAD: the S.J. Wallace Prize, the Henry Ward Ranger Purchase Prize, the Thomas R. Proctor Prize, the Joseph I. Isidor Gold Medal, and the Benjamin Altman Prize. He has also received three awards from the American Watercolor Society, among others. His work is included in public collections such as: the Brooklyn Museum; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the New Britain Museum of American Art, Conn.; and the Parrish Museum of Art, Southampton, NY. He is the author of several books.
