Vickrey studied at Wesleyan University; Yale University and Art School, New Haven, Conn; and the Art Students League. Among his honors are: the Edwin Austin Abbey Mural Fellowship; Audubon Artists; the American Watercolor Society; and the S.J. Wallace Truman Prize, the NAD. His works are in public collections such as: the Whitney Museum of American Art; the New Orleans Museum of Art; the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute, Utica, New York; the Corcoran Gallery and the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington DC; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
