Julian Levi studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and in France. Among his awards are: four, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; the Obrig Prize, NAD; the Kohnstamm Prize, Art Institute of Chicago; and a grant, the National Institute of Arts and Letters. His paintings are include in public collections such as: the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Museum of Modern Art; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; the Detroit Institute of Arts; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota; the Hirshhorn Gallery, Washington, D.C.; and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York.
