Nathan Oliveira studied at California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland, California, and with Max Beckmann. Among his honors are: a Louis Comfort Tiffany Grant; a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship; the Norman Wait Harris Bronze Medal, the Art Institute of Chicago; two Tamarind Lithography Fellowships; and an Honorable Ph.D. from the California College of Arts and Crafts. His works are found in public collections such as: the Museum of Modern Art; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington, DC; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Yale University Art Gallery; and the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Minnesota. Nathan Oliveira is equally active as a painter, printmaker and sculptor. Among his teaching appointments are: The California College of Arts and Crafts; the University of Illinois, Urbana; and Stanford University, California.
