Label TextThe Academy received this image, which clearly is an autumnal one, in 1865 under the title Landscape. However, it almost certainly is the painting Suydam lent to the Artists' Fund Society exhibition of 1862 as The Fall of the Year. It was shown in the Academy's winter exhibition of 1869-70 along with most of the other paintings Suydam had bequeathed to the Academy in 1865.
