Label TextAdams initially offered a nude bather painting for his diploma presentation. Upon receiving the work, the Council requested a landscape in turn, presumably as being more representative of his style. Adams responded by presenting this work depicting Lobo Mountain, which is located approximately twenty miles north of Taos, New Mexico. "I painted it in October when we have clear turquoise skies and the aspect of the country is high-keyed and blond," wrote Adams in a letter dated 17 October 1961.JWM
