Label TextThis bronze bust was modeled shortly after Putnam arrived in Florence where she had gone to further her education. The weighty seriousness of the piece is evidence of the sculptor's new interest in acheiving a more mature, more modern style. The head of a middle-aged or elderly man is shown over life-size. He wears a moustache and his brow is deeply furrowed. The work terminates at the neck.n.d.
