Pineda studied with Carl Milles at the Cranbrook Academy in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; with Raymond Puccinelli at the University of California, Berkeley; with Oronzio Maldarelli at Columbia University, New York; and at the Ossip Zadkine School of Sculpture in Paris. Among her major works are a bronze medallion for the Jan Veen Dance Library of the Boston Conservatory of Music, 1965; a relief for Newton College of the Sacred Heart, Massachusetts, 1975; a figural piece, Twirling, for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, 1976; and the statue of Queen Lili'uokalani for the city of Honolulu. She has taught at Boston College and Boston University.
