Roland B. Kitaj studied at the Cooper Union, New York; the Academy of Fine Art, Vienna; the Ruskin School, Oxford University; and the Royal College of Art, London. Among his honors are the Augustus Saint Gaudens Award from the Cooper Union; and an Honorary Ph.D., from the University of London. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Art, London, and the National Institute of Arts and Letters, New York [?]. His works are included in public collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Tate Gallery, London; the National Galleries of Berlin and Scotland; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York; the Hamburg Kunsthalle, Germany; and the Toledo (Ohio) Museum of Art. He has served on the faculties of the Slade Art School, London, and the University of California, Berkeley and Los Angeles.
