American, 1908 - 2003
Born in 1908, Mark Freeman studied at the National Academy of Design, Columbia School of Architecture, and received a diploma at The Sorbonne, Paris and a BA from Columbia College. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by Hirschl & Adler Gallery.
Selected one-person exhibitions include Hirschl & Adler Gallery; Sragow Gallery; Sylvan Cole Gallery; Columbia College, Lowe Library; and the Parrish Art Museum. His work has been included in group exhibitions at Audubon Artists; National Society of Acrylic and Casein; 15 Artists of the Region, East Hampton; Mark Freeman, Parrish Art Museum; and 4 Printmakers, East Hampton. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Library of Congress; Corcoran Gallery; Museum of the City of New York; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. A book, Reaching for the Sky, written by Mark Freeman was published. He is the recipient of two Beaux Arts Medals for Architecture; St. Gaudens Medal; Carnegie fellowship to The Sorbonne.
