Label TextIn this small bronze, a frog is seen resting among reeds and cat-tails. He raises his right forepaw to his right eye, evidently to assist in the natural process of shedding his skin. It is evidence of Laessle's having not been dissuaded by the 1901 controversy (see above) from pursuing his interest in charmingly realistic depictions of small animal life.Despite the inscription, Peck dates the piece 1909, calling it Old Bullfrog, and notes that three bronze casts were made of it.
