Label TextFisher was first elected an Associate in 1842, but-strangely for a portrait painter -did not qualify by submitting the required image of himself. Elected again in 1845, he presumably complied with the regulations within the required year; diploma submissions were generally not recorded in Academy minutes during this period. Fisher's Self-Portrait was included in the inventory of the Academy's collection published in 1852.
