Label TextThis is the study for the larger work, Brune (1888, Georgia Museum of Art, Athens), which caused something of a scandal when it was shown at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, in 1892. Nude on a Blue Couch is also related to a charcoal drawing by Cox in the collection of Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York.
