Label TextBacher's etching Laguna Veneta was executed in the late August 1880. He emphasized the shallow character of the lagoon or bay, emphasized the overcast or threatening nature of the weather, and the sense of movement of the gondolas as they glide over the surface of the water. A gondola with two boatmen appeared prominently in the foreground, while Venice is dimly indicated in the distance.
