Label TextDe Gerenday won the Academy's Speyer Prize in the Annual Exhibition of 1947 for an earlier depiction of Saint Francis of Assisi, and again in 1962 for the present work. This work also received the Allied Artists of America's Lindsey Morris Memorial Award in 1969. The sculptor used a similar theme was in a large bronze relief for the Saint Francis of Assisi School in Torrington, Connecticut.
