Label TextFrom 1880 to 1914 Bunce divided his time between Venice and New York. He was known for his Venetian scenes and came under the influence of one of the best-known Americans to visit that city, painter and printmaker, James A. M. Whistler. This monochromatic scene of the Grand Canal recalls Whistler's tonal compositions.
