Label TextIt would have been convenient for Chapman to pose for Beckwith since both men lived in the Sherwood Studio Building at the time this portrait was painted. On April 16, 1900, Beckwith began a head of Chapman. Beckwith noted Chapman sittings in his diary frequently over the next month, the last occuring on May 19.Beckwith's signature, recorded in older registration records is no longer visible.
