Label TextWith McEntee's trademark thin bare trees and slate grey and blue colors in the sky and water, Old Mill--November creates a plaintive, wistful mood. Elements such as the battered mill and the weathered rowboat left alone at the shore add to his familiar melancholic theme. The two figures at center are tiny; it was not until the 1870s that McEntee gave more emphasis to the human element in his landscapes.
