Label TextA Parisian stamp on the stretcher and a similarity to several Isham drawings of gnarled trees dated 1884 (NAD permanent collection) located this fresh landscape during the early portion of the artist's second period of French study. Although primarily known for his figural work, Isham occasionaly exhibited landscapes at the major New York annual exhibitons.Note: The title "Landscape in France" was assigned to this work when it was discovered in 1985 during conservation treatment of Isham's Urania (652-P). His diploma canvas had been wrapped over the earlier landscape.
