American, 1911 - 1992
Clemens studied the history of art at the University of Wisconsin, from which he graduated in 1932, and spent the following year in study at the school of the Art Institute of Chicago. In annual exhibitions of the Academy his paintings have been awarded an Altman prize in 1943, and a Hallgarten prize in 1944. The Milwaukee (Wisconsin) Art Institute, and the Art Institute of Chicago have also conveyed awards for his paintings. Clemens lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
