for Burnham Hoyt

Hoyt initiated his study of architecture at the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design in New York; he received his doctorate degree in architecture from the University of Denver. During the 1920s he worked for the New York architectural firms of George Post; Bertram, Goodhue and Pelton; and Allen and Collins. His major project in these years was the design for the interior of the Riverside Church, New York; the building was inaugurated in 1930. From 1929 to 1933 Hoyt was professor of design at New York University. He then returned to Denver where he established his architectural practice. Among his projects in the Denver area were the Red Rocks Theatre, the Boetcher School for Crippled Children, and the swimming pool for the Broadmoor Hotel.
