LaBeaume was raised in St. Louis. After graduating from Columbia University's School of Architecture he pursued his studies under E. L. Masqueray. Upon completing his studies he returned to St. Louis where he embarked upon a long and successful career as an architect. Aside from designing numerous public and private buildings, he served on numerous civic committees and as president of the St. Louis City Art Museum.
