Born in Pittsburgh, PA, 1934, Harvey Breverman received his BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MFA from Ohio University.

Breverman's one-person exhibitions included the FAR Gallery, New York; Gadatsky Gallery, Toronto, Canada; Art Gallery of Hamilton, Canada; Butler Institute of American Art; Babcock Galleries, New York; and Yeshiva University Museum, New York. His work was included in group exhibitions such as the Corcoran Gallery of Art Biennial; Painting Biennial, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Kanazawa Art Museum, Japan; Whitechapel Art Gallery, London; Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada; and various International Print Biennales and Triennales in England, Norway, Spain, Taiwan, China, Japan, Finland, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy and Germany.

The artist's work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; The Jewish Museum; Albright Knox Art Gallery; and the National Museum of American Art. Breverman was the recipient of a Tiffany Foundation Grant; Netherlands Government Grant; CAPS Grant; an NEA Fellowship; and an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award.
