Post trained with a painter Forst [sp?] Johnson, before attending the Art Students League, New York, where he studied with J. Carroll Beckwith. In 1905, Post married Katharine van Nest.
Post was at secretary of the American Water Color Society, he received an honorable mention at the Buffalo Exposition of 1901.
