As Martin's portrait indicates, Landacre was a graphic artist who specialized in engravings and woodcuts. He attended the Ohio State University but studied art on his own. He was a member of the American Artists Group, the California Society of Etchers, and the American Committee of Engraving. For most of his adult life, he lived and worked in California.
