Lund received his B.A. degree from Queens College in 1948 and studied at the Graduate School of Eduation of New York University in New York City from that year to 1950. He was in Rome on a Fulbright Grant from 1957 to 1959 and was the receipient of purchase awards from the Ford Foundation in 1961 and the Childe Hassam Fund of the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1969 and 1978. He was married to the artist, the late Sally Amster.
He has taught at the Cooper Union Art Schoo, the Parsons School of Design, Columbia University, and Boston University. He specializes in the painting of landscapes and seascape, notably in settings in Italy and along the Maine coast, and is represented by the Grace Borgenicht Gallery in New York, the Olga Dollar Gallery in San Francisco, and the Lillian Kornbluth Gallery in New Jersey.
