Hugh Pearce Botts

Botts studied at the Plainfield, New Jersey High School, Rutgers University; his training in art was at the National Academy of Design School from 1924 to 1928, the Art Students League 1923-24 and 1927-29, and at New York's Beaux Arts Institute of Design.

A graphic artist, Botts worked in etching, drypoint, acquatint, wood engraving and lithography. His subject interests were wide-ranging, including Manhattan skyscrapers, industrial scenes architecture, city parks, rural landscape, river and wharf views. Botts also contributed articles and illustrations to trade and technical publications. An exhibition of his works was presented at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D. C., in 1949.
