Label TextThis watercolor is based on a drawing that the artist made of the harbor at Monhegan Island in Maine. Holden has remarked that his approach “to watercolor is slow and meditative. My paintings evolve over several days or possibly weeks. My watercolor technique is really based on the underpainting and overpainting methods that we normally associate with the Old Masters of oil painting.”
