Label TextIn 1982, Lasch received the Rome Prize from the American Academy of Rome. During the course of working in Italy the following year she created Roman Resurrection I (Collection of the Artist). Four years later she executed the work in the Academy’s collection. Lasch’s art is distinguished by its poignancy, fascination with the macabre and unorthodox use of materials. Her overriding interest is in the miraculous, mystical and mysterious origins of existence.
Lasch has remarked that her “work is personal and reflective. . . . It acknowledges the many transitions we go through in our human form: the joys; the losses; the sorrows; the mourning; the loves; the family. It honors grief and celebrates joy. My work is uniquely Pat Lasch: the daughter of Fred and Helen Lasch: the mother of Melinda.”
