Label TextRobert Van Boskerck was elected an Associate in 1897. The Council accepted his diploma portrait by William Merritt Chase later that year. The artist died in 1932, the year the gift of this portrait by Flagg was made, probably by Van Boskerck's sister. Although it was accepted "to take the place of [Van Boskerck's] diploma portrait," the portrait by Chase remains in the Academy collection.
