Label TextThe sculpture represents, on a smaller scale, Ullberg's twelve-foot bronze and stone monument of the same name installed at the entrance to the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin, dedicated on December 12, 1983. It was cast at Art Castings of Colorado in Loveland.
The original study for the monument won the following awards: First Prize for Sculpture, the National Audubon Wildlife Art Exhibit, Alaska, 1983; the Joel Meisner Award, the National Sculpture Society, New York, 1981; and the Gold Medal Award, the National Academy of Western Art, Oklahoma City, 1981.
