Label TextRichards also employed watercolor to depict landscape subjects. Moonlit Landscape was probably executed in the countryside near Frankford or Germantown, Pennsylvania. The watercolor relates to the artist’s oil On Frankford Creek Near Philadelphia (1870, Private Collection). Richards often utilized blue-gray paper for his watercolors of around 1870.
