Label TextSculptor Jonathan Shahn studied at School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, following a fairly traditional curriculum working from the figure. He is best known for his evocative full-length figures and heads in carved in wood, modeled in plaster, or cast in bronze. Shahn has completed a number of public commissions but his more intimate work is equally as evocative. Small Self-Portrait was Shahn's diploma presentation and reflects the artist's use of non-traditional materials, which give the work its matte finish.
