Label TextThis large scale depiction of a fox preying on a goose is representative of Pearson's animal paintings. Although Pearson was elected NA in 1919, he failed to submit the required diploma work. Following his death, Pearson's wife offered the Academy a work to complete his NA requirements, suggesting the selection be chosen from the Pearson memorial exhibition at held at the Pennyslvania Academy of the Fine Arts. This work was selected by Daniel Garber for the Academy's permanent collection and presented on behalf of the deceased artist by Alice Kent Stoddard Pearson.
