Label TextAmong Faulkner's earliest works in mosaic were an alter piece for the chapel of the American Military Cemetery in Suresnes, France, and an interior for a the American Military Chapel at the American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France, both completed in 1930. His method was to execute full-sized painting, which were then rendered by the Ravenna Mosaic Company. His Academy diploma presentation was the original painting for one of these decorations.
According to the registration record of this work made in the early 1950s, the now faded pencil inscription was Faulkner's signature and the date 1929.
