Label TextLoeb's vaguely sullen figure placed on a rough boulder shot through with touches of green and violet is surrounded by the thick foliage of a dark forest. In 1905, Samuel Isham commented on the increasing importance of landscape elements in the work of Loeb. In addition, he warned of a pronounced European look and an occasional "over-sweet" effect.
