Label TextAlexander resided in Paris from 1890-1901. In the experimental atmosphere of this French city, Alexander's art underwent a change. There was a new decorative quality in the long sweeping lines that formed his rather two-dimensional figures. The emphatic curves of the Art Nouveau style were also impacted his work. Upon returning permanently to New York in 1901, Alexander was immediately elected an Associate and then a full member of the National Academy.n.d.
