Label TextA vocal political activist and champion of social causes, Anton Refregier participated in the Works Progress Administration during the 1930s. In the early 1970s he made numerous trips to Mexico. Enchanted with the residents there, he wrote, "I am aware of the dignity and of the beauty of these wonderful people and this to me is a challenge.
