Label TextThis modest forest interior differs dramatically in kind from the other forest interior by John F. Kensett in Suydam's collection, his large-scale Bash Bish. This more intimate scene conveys the feeling of intimacy that characterized Suydam's own early work during the 1850s. Kensett often painted in small scale, providing an important model for Suydam's early oil paintings.
