Label TextHarris and Moeller shared a patron in the wealthy Thomas B. Clarke. But even without this contact, it is certain that they would have known of one another soon after their respective returns from study abroad. The press frequently grouped them together (with Charles Ulrich) when discussing genre painting. However, the less successful Harris was referred to as a follower of the other two men.
