1879 - 1969
Rittenberg, a portrait painter, came to America when he was three years old. He studied with William Merrit Chase at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and at the Munich Academy under Ludwig Her Tesich (Herterich, Hestesich??). In 1905 he married Rachel Sachs. He taught at the Beaux Arts Institute of Design. He painted Harry S. Truman at the Potsdam Conference in 1945.
He was very active at the National Academy of Design as a teacher and coucil member.
