Langdon Quin is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He lives with his family in the Hudson Valley east of Troy, New York and in central Italy near the town of Gubbio.

Quin received his MFA in Painting from Yale University in 1976. He is a representational painter whose imagery - landscape, interiors, figure and still life, or combinations thereof - is derived from both observation and invention.

Quin is the recipient of many awards including a Fulbright Fellowship, a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant, a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and two Ingram Merrill Foundation grants. In addition, he has had a distinguished academic career teaching both undergraduates and graduate students in various university settings and professional art programs throughout the northeast. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of Painting and Drawing at the University of New Hampshire.
