Immi StorrsANA 1993; NA 1994American, b. 1945

Based in New York City, Immi Storrs is known for her modernist animal and figure sculptures. Her sculptural style often “exaggerates, eliminates unnecessary elements and enhances the anatomical feature of her forms.” Among her subjects are horses, sheep and birds rendered with fresh and soulful vision. Her work has themes of life and death and social interactions, and combines materials such as bronze and wood.

Storrs attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver and the University of Denver. She is mainly self-taught as a sculptor, although she did study with Sidney Simon. In 1997, her work was invited into the 1997 White House exhibition of Twentieth-Century American Sculpture.
